The Mark Pollock talk was very interesting. It was about a young man who was in college and had become blind, but this did not stop him. He was only 22. But this did not affect the young athlete as he moved on with his life, completing the first ever race to the South Pole and finishing 5th out of 6.
But ten years after becoming blind disaster struck once again. He fell out of a second storey window and injured his spine. During his 16 month time in hospital he was told to have no hope because it would make him feel worse. But despite this he had hope and set up, with the help of his friends and family, the Mark Pollock Trust.
Since then Mark his come in contact with many bionics companies and walks about 3000 steps a week. Mark was very inspirational and I would love to see him again.
I personally found the talk motivating. Together with many other TY students, I am doing the Run in the Dark on Wednesday 13th of November at 7:30pm in the city centre. Photos will be up on the TY blog.
